TallGirl Yogi is a 6'1" yoga student and teacher who recently lost 35 pounds via her yoga practice! Yes, she really is that tall!
#ekapadarajakapotasana with a bent back leg = #mermaidpose on the #beach in #costarica ! :) This pose was very hard on sand and a slope, but I made it work long enough for this photo. What better place to channel your inner #yogi mermaid than a #tropical beach?

Parsvakonasana with armbind on the beaches of santa teresa costa rica while at pranamarvillas yoga retreat. Also wanted to show off my new suit! Being comfortable in my skin took a long, long time (and is always a work in progress), but if you love yourself and your body people will feel that energy :)
Yoga in sand is definitely challenging, so be careful you don’t slip if you try this (you could overstretch that leg!).
I would love to see some pictures of you all trying this pose, or maybe another pose you like (bonus points if it is in the sand!).
Good morning from Laguna Beach, California. This idyllic spot for my morning meditation is right outside of my hotel. One of the things that keeps me balanced with how much I travel, teach and practice is my daily sitting meditation. As little as five minutes a day can make the difference between a peaceful or imbalanced tone to my day. Not every place has such a gorgeous spot to sit with the infinite depth of the ocean as the background, but the setting honestly doesn’t matter. Meditation is about calming and stilling the mind and that can be done anywhere. I’ve done my sitting practice on airplanes, in bathrooms, in closets, in beautiful retreat centers, on beaches and on any flat surface where I could sit undisturbed. Meditation is a universal tool that anyone can do to cultivate a calm, steady mind. You don’t need to be calm, flexible, fit, young or anything special to start, all you need is an honest desire to be more peaceful and as little as five minutes of free time.
In November of 2013, I was beyond blessed to have been able to travel to Bulgaria. I was a student in over a dozen classes filmed for udaya.com, and the second one I was in is now available online!
Winter blues got you down? The magical and amazing Jules Mitchell taught a Mood Enhancer class complete with inversions, ALL with props. That’s right: a “hearts and” using a chair, and some other neat tricks. Some of these poses I had never successfully gotten into before, so I had breakthroughs while on camera (talk about overcoming your fears!)
Following along at http://www.udaya.com/mood-enhancer/
And don’t forget to check out the first video i was in from the Bulgaria shoot: www.udaya.com/the-dancer-pose
Big shout out to Britteny who is a brainy yogi who is also super tall and is the other student in this video with me. Go tall chicks!!
